Martin Segura Scholarship Golf Tournament
Report The Martin Segura Scholarship Golf Tournament, held at Treasure Hills Golf Course, marked the successful restart of our annual fundraising event, which had been paused since 2018. The tournament took place on a fresh morning with clear skies and perfect golfing conditions with the exception a few mosquitoes. It was a wonderful setting for participants to come together for a great cause, with no rain in sight. Participation and Atmosphere The event attracted 39 participants, a strong turnout considering this was the first tournament in five years. The atmosphere was vibrant and friendly, with players eager and excited to compete. Throughout the day, there was an evident sense of camaraderie and support for the cause, as participants enjoyed the well-organized event. The event struck the right balance between challenge and enjoyment, ensuring that everyone, from novice golfers to experienced players, had a great time. Fundraising Success We are proud to announce that the tournament exceeded all expectations, both in participation and financial success. We not only met our fundraising goal but surpassed it by over $1,000, providing a strong financial base to jump-start next year’s event. This financial success ensures that the Martin Segura Scholarship will continue to thrive and support deserving students in our community. Sponsorship and Support The tournament was made possible through the generous contributions of our sponsors. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Gold Sponsor, Eric Anzaldua of The Carlin Insurance Agency, whose support was instrumental in the success of the event. Highlights of the Event The tournament featured a friendly competition, with standout performances from several participants. Two of our very own renowned celebrities, Eric Anzaldua and Juan C. Carlin, also took part, making the event even more memorable. The winning team, Jole Insurance, performed exceptionally well, taking home the top honors and an amazing prize for the day. Hospitality and Entertainment Participants were well-fed and refreshed throughout the day. The morning began with breakfast tacos, followed by beverages during the tournament to keep everyone hydrated. The day concluded with a delicious Chick-Fil-A meal, which was served during the door prize presentation. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with many participants already committing to returning next year. Key Success Factors The key to the event’s success lay in the smooth organization and teamwork from everyone involved. From logistics to hospitality, every aspect of the event was meticulously planned and executed. Our volunteers were tireless in their efforts, ensuring the tournament ran seamlessly from start to finish. This, combined with the financial success of exceeding our fundraising goal by over $1,000, made the event an outstanding success. Conclusion The 2024 Martin Segura Scholarship Golf Tournament was a resounding success. It brought the community together, exceeded fundraising goals, and laid the foundation for the future success of our annual tournament. We thank everyone who contributed—sponsors, volunteers, and participants—and we look forward to building on this momentum next year. Respectfully, Grand Knight Edgar R. Columbus Council #2785 came together to make a meaningful impact!
Today, we donated $2,000.00 to the Special Olympics of the Rio
Grande Valley on 07/22/2023. Without the generosity of our
community, this would not have been possible. Thank you for
empowering us to support such a worthy cause!
